In 2017, I feel like I had an “epiphany” – a sudden insight into a creative gift I didn’t know I possessed. I decided I wanted to start to journal but my history with this practise was pretty dismal. Many times throughout my life I’d buy myself a lovely journal, get out a beautiful pen with which to write and begin. Do you know how many journals I have with writing in the first few pages and then blank after that?

To help me be motivated, I decided to try something new – art journalling. And I loved it! Soon I was looking into new and creative ways to express myself and stumbled upon Alcohol Inks. I immediately fell in love with their vibrancy. I began to play with the inks, allowing them to flow and mingle as they saw fit and experimenting with various substrates.

At the beginning of 2018 I decided I wanted to try to paint a portrait of my 14 year old border collie. I enrolled in an online alcohol ink pet portrait painting course led by Sheryl Williams (she is an amazing mentor!) and I found out I could paint more realistically.

Since then I have continued to learn and grow and branch out into other mediums including soft pastel and encaustic. I love to paint landscapes, animals (pets especially), florals and portraits. I love to travel and take my own reference photos from which to paint.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my work!
